TIP-UP FURNACES

Experience unmatched reliability with our Tip-Up Furnaces

Tip-Up Furnaces

NUTEC Bickley's tip-up furnaces provide a flexible operational process by allowing the high temperature process (austenitizing) and the low temperature process (tempering) to be executed in the same furnace.

Tip-up furnaces are commonly used in intermittent (or batch) processes. Here, the product is placed directly into the furnace by means of a front-loading mechanism, usually via a forklift or using a handling device.

Tip-up (‘clam-shell’ design) units eliminate potential furnace door leaks by allowing the entire furnace bottom perimeter to be sealed against a fiber/sand seal box.We provide tip-up furnaces in custom designs and sizes to meet customer production and process requirements.

The process of lifting or opening the furnace is usually performed using hydraulic cylinders to ensure an efficient mechanical movement of the unit.

Advantages of our Tip-Up Furnaces

Efficiency: Rapid cooling between processes to enable each of the different cycles to be commenced.
AMS Compliant: Designed to comply with AMS 2750E with temperature tolerance capacity up to Class 1, if necessary.
Temperature Uniformity: Flexible designs within a single unit to meet temperature uniformity requirements (TUS): In the range 150ºC to 1,200ºC (300ºF to 2,190ºF). The principal objective is to provide a flexible and operational process by allowing the high temperature process (austenitizing) and the low temperature process (tempering) to be executed in the same furnace.
Firing: Pulsed combustion and control systems.
Energy Efficiency: Most advanced heat recovery systems with recuperative burners that provide fuel savings ranging from 10% up to 50% compared to cold air systems.
Insulation: Sections equipped with ceramic fiber using the patented Jointless® design, a system which does not have joints and features a special design to compensate for fiber shrinkage, considerably reducing maintenance requirements.

Tip-up furnaces benefiting from the best technology

With our SCADA systems, the furnace operators are able to have complete control of their heating and thermal treating processes, enhancing efficiency and productivity.

Our latest Industry 4.0 developments integrate the latest technology to not only monitor the process, but also to keep the furnace operating in its peak performance with smart maintenance technology.

All the data generated during the heating and thermal treating processes is stored in our SCADA system, which then is used to generate reports, graphs and intelligence data, to help customers in their decision making process.

Why choose Nutec Bickley when buying a tip-up-furnace?

Reduced maintenance requirements, as there are no systems to ensure a positive seal (as in the case of doors). So, equipment maintenance is reduced.
Custom designs available, offering the uniformity required for each type of process.
Low thermal mass insulation system, without exposed metal fittings on the hot face of the furnace.
Clients are welcome to visit our facilities to learn more about our testing procedures.
We offer material handling and automation solutions.
Preassembly of furnaces in our manufacturing facility offers a guarantee of quick and easy installation at customers’ facilities, while the test ignition verifies that all components are in good working order, minimizing on-site commissioning problems.
